Materials related to rehearsal and performance, including a published copy (Wien, 1857; "Als Manuscript gedruckt und ausschliessliches Eigenthum des Theater-Agenten Adalbert Prix"), which has been annotated as a prompt-book; and 15 handwritten role books, for the following parts: Baron Feldstein; Agathe, dessen Schwester; Herr von Weichherz; Doctor Bern, Notar; Hartner, Steinmetzmeister; Peter Schartig, Steinmetzgeselle; Paul and Jacob (Gesellen); Marie; Frau Regine, Obsthändlerin; Christian Tanzapf, Chirurg; Babette, Brotverkäuferin; Martin, Hausmeister; Caspar, Kellner; and Jean, Diener des Baron. (Two roles seem to be missing from those included in the performance: Altberger, Milchmaier; and Matzner, Gast im Wirthshause. The published copy lists other several additional characters.) On the title page of the published copy it is noted that the play was performed at the Carl-Theater in Vienna on 27 April 1857, and music is attributed to Kapellmeister Carl Binder. (No music is included here.) Names of actors and actresses noted on the covers of role books are recognizable from the casts of other German-language plays performed in Philadelphia in the 1870s, and likely reflect a performance around 1876. All of the materials are marked by hand as the property of Theodor Bloch, who was an actor in German-language theater in Philadelphia around that time, and later a prompter and proprietor of a theater lending library. (The collection's holdings of theater newspapers and playbills contain no reference to this play.)
